Modified Duties are more than a concept and only work effectively when formal structure is in place. It is well known and accepted that the best environment for recovery of injury is the normal worksite, with necessary support for the employee.
Many employers have actual light or modified tasks or activities available, but do not have the tools to assign these duties in an effective and timely manner. They also face the burden of needing to pursue further information from physicians, the Workers’ Compensation Board and insurance benefit providers.
This Program provides the tools to implement and control modified activities for an injured or ill employee. In the case of a work place accident, this is often accomplished on the date of the accident. Turning potential time loss claims into no time loss claims, or greatly reducing the period of disability, is readily achieved.
SUMMARY OF OBJECTIVES
- reduce workers’ compensation costs
- reduce use of insurance benefits and control premiums
- eliminate unnecessary time loss resulting from work related injury
- increase morale
- reduce cost of replacement workers
- increase productivity
- reduce administrative costs
The BCL Team knows the advantages of providing structured modified duties. This Program, in conjunction with a well managed Claims Management Program, demonstrates the difference between an employer taking control or being controlled by claims and their workers’ disability periods. The focus is aimed at recovery, rehabilitation, and returns to work, without disruption to the workplace or injured employee.
Modified Duties Programs are an effective means of controlling costs, but are only intended as a temporary measure.
Our program is designed to meet specific employer needs. The BCL Team is able to improve existing programs or develop a new program if nothing is in place. We will discuss the philosophy and cost savings with your management team and upon implementation, arrange for a meeting with all staff to advise them of the components and benefits.
